2007:

2007: This year we saw additions to two major features on the water display. The back wall now sways 60 heads and front has 4 new whirrlybird heads with circular motion. This included adding a new pump, and a new channel LOR computer. The front of house now has 100,000 lights and many new animated figures including 2 snow making machines.
2006: Bill Vanderslice began working on his holiday displays in April of 2006. The decorations that adorn Vanderslice’s O’Hara Drive, Port Charlotte home include 33,000 lights, four outdoor Christmas trees, three sleighs and a towering Santa Claus. Decorations that truly set this Florida resident apart from other holiday homes are the illuminated alligator and most of all, a handcrafted water fountain, lit from beneath. This water display features 265 water jets and is fashioned from PVC pipe surrounded by a wooden box, which houses the electrical switches and pumps. The fountain, along with the whole light display, is animated to holiday music by computer.
The Vanderslice Christmas home is a 10 year tradition now, and seems to have affected the entire neighborhood. The community is looking forward to being highlighted in USA Today, as well as, local and national radio & television. Many locals turned up for the October 5th filming of “What’s With That Christmas House?” scheduled to premiere on the HGTV network on Sunday, December 10th at 9 p.m. Other scheduled airdates are available at HGTV.com.
